Wear a Cardi to the Party

Summer party season is almost here!  Graduations, weddings, showers, pool and beach parties, outdoor concerts – the list is truly endless!  And, of course, the age old question – “What am I going to wear?!?!?!”blk cardi

shrug cardi(1)Well, this is the year of the cardigan sweater – not the heavy cable knit, button-front in dull colors that my Aunt Ethel wore with her brown sensible shoes, but the updated, fun and fashionable new take on this old fave.

There are so many types of cardigans it’s hard to choose; but consider all the possibilities.

The Shrug – mid-upper arm sleeve with a just below the midriff length – flattering on almost every body type.

The uneven, scarf-type cardi – no buttons, usually longer on the sides to be worn open or tied at the waist.  Great on everyone, covers what you want to cover but is flowy and chic.scarf cardi

The cardi is a piece you can buy that will update your whole spring/summer wardrobe.  Wear it with a white tee shirt, jeans, crop pants, shorts (not on MY body – but may be on yours!),  skirts or over a dress.  This is also a great way to dress up a maxi dress.  Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean it doesn’t cool off in the evening, unless you’re in the desert. Even in the desert, when you go inside, it’s always cool.  So you gotta have a cardi!

When outside during the summer, do protect your face with a hat. Big-brimmed straw hats are VERY “in” this season – plus this popular style of hat will protect your beautiful face.

Happy parties, ladies!

  1. It will be so much fun to see you!. Unlike you I have never been a fashion model a lot of hippy still in me. That might be a good blog “Old Hippy turns Vogue.” ha ha zzzzPwace Bonnie

  2. I took your advice and wore a cardi to two parties last weekend! The funny thing is I didn’t even realize I had one until after I read your post. I went looking for light sweaters. Lo and behold, there was a lovely turquoise cardi that I bought from Chico’s early in 2012 to take to Hawaii. I wore it once and forgot about it. SO nice to be surprised by my very own wardrobe! Thanks!
